Learn more about us and our approachIt means we run workshops and do consumer research to better understand the challenges brought to us by our clients.
We speak directly and honestly with our clients about those challenges, what drives them, how to articulate them and how we can best solve the problem.
And then we take on those problems head on. Whether that's through engineering a solution using CAD and making prototypes OR creating a visual design system to help communicate a brand idea or identity.
We tackle every new challenge with a clean slate - finding the best approach from our arsenal of tools, experience and knowledge to make something wonderful.
Who we are and our years of experience makes us perfectly posed to do this for our clients. Find out more about us below.
Greta has been designing digital solutions for some of the world's leading brands for over 15 years. With a degree and specialism in digital communications and product design, her strengths and experience have led her into more strategic design roles, consulting with high profile clients on how design thinking and processes can help build their businesses.
Greta looks at things from a user-centric, strategic point of view – constantly asking why are we doing this? What problems are we solving? And what will the customer experience be?

We're always open to chat about new opportunities and projects. If you'd like to get in touch, we'd love to hear from you.
We're based on the South Coast of England in easy reach of London but our clients are global and come to us with projects at varying levels of completion. We can help define a brief and start from scratch or provide design & engineering support to get an existing project over the line.

hello@chambersdesignstudio.co.ukCorkscrews are notoriously difficult to use products. The small and compact ones are generally much harder to use and can be especially tricky for people with weak or arthritic hands. The lever corkscrews on the market address this issue using mechanical advantage but are much bulkier products and difficult to store (drawer-catchers is a term often used for such products).
The Joseph Joseph compact lever corkscrew provides the mechanical advantage of a lever corkscrew in a compact form that collapses into itself to take up minimal space when not in use. Its simple design removes corks in one simple action using its non-stick screw thread, which glides smoothly into any cork. The corkscrew also features an integrated foil cutter, meaning you have everything you need to open a bottle in this one neat and tidy product.
The Chambers studio was approached by Joseph Joseph with a brief to come up with a hero product for their Barwise™ range, a bottle opener to match the lever giants on the market. We researched these competitors and found that many of the products were quite flawed and customers were frustrated by the storage space they required and awkward shape they came in. With this insight we developed the new solution with a collapsing lever, taking up less space when not in use and providing a much better customer experience.
We thoroughly researched the sector, watching user videos and trawling product reviews to pinpoint the key frustrations customers had with the existing products on the market. From there we prioritised pain-points, brainstormed solutions and presented our findings and key concepts back to the client.
Once a concept had been selected we took it into development, iterating on our idea, working on the visuals and eventually doing the engineering to provide detailed CAD drawings of every component. We provided ongoing support throughout the tooling phase to ensure a smooth route to manufacture and quality product on the other side.
The Herston Desk Lamp combines high performance technology with a classic modernist design aesthetic to create an heirloom quality lamp that meets the needs of today's world. Its unique form, founded on engineering principles, enables you to effortlessly adjust the light – whether it's for your desk, a table or beside your bed.
With its slim, refined body made from oak, brass and cast-iron, the Herston Desk Lamp is a modern yet timeless addition to any home or workspace.
With a longstanding passion for premium craftsmanship and products that stand the test of time, we set out to design this lamp as the inaugural product of our premium brand, Herston. The concept for the lamp was based on using natural materials to create a highly functional product, using a counterbalance mechanism at its engineering core. After much product development, design and engineering – we decided to pitch the product on crowdfunding website, Kickstarter. The lamp received resounding success, sold 4 times our funding goal and was featured in many design blogs and press.
From the kernel of an idea to a fully functional prototype with a production plan that is viable for manufacturing, we have personally delivered this product through every stage of the process. This has involved high level design decisions about aesthetics and materials as well as detailed engineering of the product, tooling and manufacturing jigs.
Starting a brand from scratch has involved a great many parts, from the initial branding of Herston to CMF and visual decisions on the product itself – design thinking and practice exists in every aspect of our business. On a practical level, to get our brand where it is today we have managed and styled photo and video shoots, brand development, website design, social media content and the Kickstarter campaign to a resounding success.
Oliver's engineering and product experience coupled with Greta's visual design and strategic background, means there is no part of this great venture that doesn't have their stamp on it.
HiP Interactive Property is a groundbreaking new company that aims to release the billions of pounds caught up in property equity around the world. Offering a fascinating new finance model, the company aims to convert the equity people already have in their homes to a currency they can trade with, invest or cash-in.
As a brand new company with a unique product to bring to market, HiP engaged us to help them communicate their complicated concept to the public. The brand was to convey the excitement that this opportunity brings with it, but also a sense of stability and professionalism. We're talking to people about their homes and the largest investment most people have, so it was very important we projected a brand people can trust but still get excited about.
After an initial research and design exploration phase where three potential directions were pitched to the client, we developed the selected design route into a website, magazine template and brand guidelines. This is just the beginning for this company, so it was important we gave them a brand they understand and the tools they need to roll it out over the next few years as the company grows.
Faber Music is a prestigious company founded in 1965 by Benjamin Britten. Famous for its work with contemporary classic musicians, it has a legacy of producing everything from sheet music to licensing for some of the country and world's greatest musicians.
We were recently engaged to review the visual language being used to communicate the brand and how the customer experiences it, both online and offline. We ran workshops with internal teams, sketched out user journeys, applied the new design language across key pages within the site and defined the detailed spec required for a complete rollout.
Our work product on this project involved wireframes and web page designs, brand guidelines and a full (design) kit of parts to facilitate the build and any design needs moving forward. The new design is currently being rolled out so cannot be shared at this stage – but watch this space!
The Chambers studio was engaged to provide engineering support to this London-based startup before and after their great Kickstarter success. We helped them develop their consumer product to be viable for manufacture on a mass scale and provided ongoing advice and support throughout their journey.
We love the entrepreneurial spirit that a platform like Kickstarter provides and firmly believe it can be the bounding board for great projects that might otherwise not see the light of day. We regularly advise people on their projects in this field and very much enjoy being part of this world.
Speedo briefed us to develop and refine their concept for a sturdy packaging solution for their V-Class range of goggles that would allow customers to reuse the package as storage. The case was to meet the expected high standards of such a high quality brand whilst considering the environmental impact of materials and processes and use.
Detailed 3D CAD data was delivered to the client in a three week timeframe, enabling them to rapidly progress to the sourcing and production phase. The product as a whole went on to achieve the esteemed Red Dot award.
